Recognizing all things come from God, we as a parish family prayed for and worked hard to find a replacement for our beloved Music Director, John Riley, who left us to be with his family in Arizona. A music committee was formed and thanks to their hard work, God led Thom Greathouse to us. Thom has been with us now for over a year. He brings his own uniquely gifted style and talent. Under Thom’s faithful care and guidance our music program has continued to advance and mature, especially in the quality of singing among our choir members. Thom also has a beautiful singing voice and this has helped in the congregations’s singing, especially at the 8:00 a.m. Sunday Mass.

The Nine Lessons service has always drawn an large crowd to St George’s and last year was no exception. we were able to rent again a huge tent complete with lights and heating. Choir members and other parishoners decorated the church with Christmas decorations for the occasion. For those who have been fortunate enough to attend the Christmas Festivals at St. George’s over the years, they, no doubt, will hold fond memories of this service.

The parish thanks Thom and the choir for their steadfast dedication and hard work this last year, especially during this time of transition. This speaks of the health and vitality of the choir due to the loving nurture and care over the years by John Riley and continued under Thom Greathouse.

To all parishoners, please prayerfully consider becoming a member of the choir. You do not need a background in music or musical training. Even if you feel you do not have a voice, you will be surprised what you will learn and can contribute. Your presence in the choir would most assuredly be an asset to the congregation.

Choir practice is held Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. for more information contact the church office at 702-395-4576.
